About Duì 兌

Key Point

☱ (Duì) is a symbol of "Lake" because a broken line of yin on the top line expresses the water surface. Duì is similar to ☵ (Kǎn) expressing "Water." The different point is Duì means stagnant though Kǎn means running.

Attribute

The attribute of Duì is regarded as "pleasure" because the top yin can be enjoyed with peace of mind above the a pair of stable yang. Also, compared to body parts, ☰ (Qián) is a head and ☱ (Duì) is a mouth. The top yin of Duì can be seen like opening a mouth to laugh or chat.
